Cycling on Monte Amiata

We’ll depart from the Le Macinaie lodge in direction Aiuole. From here we continue towards Saturnia. After 1 km soft climb we’ll find us in the valley of the river Fiora.A fantastic sight of the Amiata and of Santa Fiora opens before your eyes. After few kilometres, before we cross the river Albegna, we’ll see on our right side Monte Labbro. In the clearest days the participants can admire the sea to the port of Argentario and the island of Giglio. From here we move into the hills of Maremma characterized by olive groves, vineyards and open panoramic views. Before continuing towards Saturnia we will have a short rest in the Castle of Triana. The road first continues to the charming small village of Semproniano and then towards Rocchette di Fazio. "Rocchette" is a characteristic castle situated on the top of a rock over the river Albegna. Weìll have lunch in this wonderful place. From Rocchette the road is going fast down crossing Catabbio and "Le Capanne". When we arrive in Saturnia the participants can chose if they first would like to visit the small town centre (about 1 km going up) or if they like to continue the road directly to the natural hot springs. The hot water is magic for the body, time to relax and enjoy good stories
