(Sunset on Amiata)

"L'Amiata, una montagna di contrasti violenti in cui il vento, la pioggia, la neve, la nebbia ma anche il sole sono gli ospiti familiari, il fascino della tempesta o di grigiore in cui una locale schiarita colpisce con precisione una roccia, le modeste case delle pendici Amiatine, un angolo di macchia, davanti ai quali in condizioni normali, sarei passato cento volte senza fermarmi, trasformandoli e sublimandoli per qualche secondo.Questi contrasti di luce mi sembravano anche al di là di ogni considerazione estetica il modo più fedele di riprodurre la nobile ed affascinante storia di un angolo dell'Amiata. Ringrazio Enrico e Giorgio, i titolari dell'albergo Le Macinaie, per avermi concesso il compito di progettare ed effettuare la pubblicazione di queste pagine Web e per l'attenzione e l'interesse che hanno dimostrato".

(Amiata, a mountain of violent contrasts, where the wind, the rain, the snow, the fog but also the sun are familiar guests. The charm of the storm and the greyness, the turn of the better that hit precisely a rock, the modest houses at the slopes of the mountain, a piece of scrub; as a rule I’ll have passed hundred times all this without stopping, transforming and subliming them just for few seconds. These light contrasts seem to me the best and faithful way to represent the charming history of a piece of Amiata. I thank Giorgio and Enrico, the “Le Macinaie Lodge” owners, to let me plan these web pages and for the attention and the interest they showed.)
