Pieve ad La Mulas (Arcidosso) |
(Pieve ad Lamulas under the snow)
Between Arcidosso and Montelaterone, there is a tiny Romanesque church with knights slaying monsters on the capitals of the columns that flank the altar, built in 1268 and restored at the end of the nineteenth century. It is the older monument in all the territory of Mount Amiata. The wooden Madonna with child is attributed to Jacopo della Quercia, (sienese school XV° century). The internal is divided in one nave and two aisles, with six columns: three circular and three quadrangler. On the top there are capitals with zoo morphological motifs and the truss.
