Castiglioncello Bandini (Monticello Amiata) |
(The medieval town of Monticello Amiata)
It was originally perhaps an Aldobrandeschi family stronghold. Little remains of the ancient centre which was incorporated into the estates of the Bandini, a noble Siena family. The Church was "equipped" in 1579 by F. Bandini, Archbishop of Siena. There are few remains of the castle in the structure of the current towered factory which overlooks a wide and striking panorama of the Maremma region which reaches the sea and from where many sunsets can be enjoyed.
